Ben Akoh

Ben Akoh is was the Information and Communication Technology and Media Program Manager at the Open Society Initiative for West Africa (OSIWA).

Ben’s ICT work covered 18 countries (15 ECOWAS countries, Chad, Cameroon and Mauritania) in the areas of advocacy and capacity building on ICT policy development and harmonisation; affordable and increased access to information and telecommunication infrastructure; Knowledge governance focusing on content creation, localisation of technology, preservation and digitalisation; promoting the use of free and open source software and eGovernance in West Africa. Ben’s current priorities involved the cross between technology and media especially digitalisation and convergence; sustainable development in ICTs; advocacy for freedom of expression and access to information; and the set up of an eGovernace Academy for Africa.
